A bit outside the Dutch city of The Hague lies Waddinxveen, and here Mark de Korte is the Team Leader at our terminal. Since 2021 Mark has been at the forefront of our efforts to optimize service quality.
“In the beginning, it was difficult – you are going to find your way,” Mark reflects on the early days of establishing Thermo-Transit’s self-operating system in Holland.
“We wanted to offer better service. Our clients expect a high level of service,” he notes, underscoring the importance of accuracy in paperwork, loading processes, and ensuring the right temperature for the goods we transport.
The terminal in Waddinxveen, according to Mark, is designed to handle the specific needs of our operations, despite being smaller than our Padborg terminal. With a team of 7 they all have a busy and ever changing day primarily working with exports to Denmark and Norway
“For our customers, we provide a bit more – everything must be perfect,” Mark explains, detailing the meticulous process of obtaining specific documents phyto’s and T documents and navigating the inspection and labelling requirements, particularly for goods from Spain.
“We arrange inspections for several fruits and vegetables from Spain in categories and arrange all documentations for it. We can make the needed labelling for these fruits like, which is important to our customers. It is a part of creating some kind of “fruit passport”, which ensures smooth authority processes.”
When asked about the most important aspect for customers, Mark believes it’s the comprehensive service Thermo-Transit offers, from handling specialized documents to guiding customers through regulatory processes that ranks high.
“If the labelling of the fruit is not done in the right way, the authority can lockdown the product.”
“Therefore, it is an essential service to our customers.”
Echoing Terminal Manager Kim Christiansen’s sentiment from Denmark about the importance of teamwork and employee satisfaction, Mark agrees.
“Here, especially because we are such a small team, it is very important to make sure everybody is happy and supported.”
This collaborative spirit is vital in managing the diverse challenges that each day brings, from overloaded trucks to urgent documentation needs, ensuring that “we finish every day with a good result and fix every problem together.”
Looking ahead, Mark and his team are exploring the expansion of their capabilities, including the introduction of special cooling cells to accommodate a wider range of products, such as strawberries and blueberries or other cold goods
“Our work in Waddinxveen makes a difference for our customers because of our dedication to quality, service, and teamwork. Every day is new, but our goal remains: to deliver exceptional logistics solutions together,” concludes Mark.
